Job Description
The NYC Department of Transportation is seeking a qualified Principal Administrative Associate to serve within the Training and Development Unit, a division of Human Resources and Facility Management. Reporting directly to the Director of Training and Development, the selected candidate will assume the role of Training Specialist, with primary responsibilities including the delivery and in-person facilitation of safety and workplace compliance training programs.
Core duties will include (but not limited to) conducting the agency’s annual Right-to-Know and Safety Awareness training for field personnel. This training encompasses a range of critical safety topics, such as Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Conservation, Workplace Violence Prevention, Mobile Equipment Safety, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Additionally, the selected candidate will be responsible for facilitating in-person compliance training sessions on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) topics, Certificate of Fitness Examination Preparation, and Defensive Driving.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to adapt to dynamic instructional settings, quickly acquire subject matter knowledge, and effectively conduct varied training exercises. Further responsibilities include assisting with the design and development of training curricula, researching current health and safety regulations, maintaining accurate records of training activities, and preparing reports, statistics, and project updates for submission to the Director of Training and Development. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in their work schedule, including availability for early morning and evening assignments.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE, OR BE REACHABLE ON THE PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE LIST, OR BE ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
