    Eaton’s AER HQ Headquarters division is currently seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineering Specialist. This position will be located at our North Charleston, SC facility. Relocation benefits will be offered within the United States only.

     

    Eaton’s Aerospace Group has leveraged the technology to create superior products and capture profitable growth for the businesses reaching $2.7B LOP in awarded business and multiple Government funded projects. This has resulted in significant program growth since the beginning of additive manufacturing in the Eaton Aerospace business with 36 awarded parts and over 100 active programs within the Digital Design and Additive Manufacturing Center (DDAMC) in Charleston, SC; this is roughly 450% growth since 2021!

     

    This position will act as the additive manufacturing expert and be responsible for consulting with Aerospace engineers and other additive manufacturing specialists to design the parts and the processes to manufacture. The candidate will create design guidelines, design additive manufacturing parts, adjust process parameters, operate the printers and all supporting equipment, write procedures and work instructions, and implement continuous improvements projects to optimize the process for cost and quality. In addition, the role will work with the engineering community to develop proposals on proposed projects including defining the cost of the end part, including required non-recurring additive manufacturing engineering costs for development and timing. Also, this person will support the development of the additive manufacturing process and the transition to production. This role will oversee some of the day to day operations, maintain a quality system in the lab, ensure safe work practices are maintained and drive overall maturation within the facility.

     

    The expected annual salary range for this role is $108749.97 - $159499.96 a year.

    What you’ll do:

    • Introduce new Additive products in production utilizing the New Product Introduction process in accordance with established standards and best practices driving a right the first-time philosophy.

    • Approve MRL levels for LPBF Aluminum and Stainless Steel as well as EBPBF Titanium.

    • Present and lead AM product MRL reviews with customers.

    • Act as a design and process mentor to other engineers.

    • Review and recommend changes for AM processes; WI and specs.

    • Manage material and process characterization work for new AM processes.

    • Technical expert for AM LPBF and EBPBF technology in Aerospace.

    • Create, manage and execute on new Technology AM and Digital Design projects.

    • Attend and support tech reviews for AM products.

    • Execute on FAI; PPAPs, MSAs; Gage R&R and other development to production tools.

    • Support AS9100 and NADCAP certification for the Aluminum Area.

    • MRL owner for many AM projects across the 4 divisions.

    • Lead AM Continuous Improvement for LPBF and EB Processes.

    • Support new machines implementation.

    • Support Safety; 5S; Maintenance and Calibration of AM Machines.

    • Research, justify, and implement new manufacturing processes.

    • Support development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the AM Team business strategy to meet cost, quality and delivery.

    • Support and own Government funded projects in collaboration with ERL.

    • Develop and implement effective mistake proofing as part of continuous improvement and root cause/corrective action.

    • Collaborate with design, other additive engineers, and technicians to develop and optimize additive manufacturing designs and processes.

    • Participate as an active member in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) to eliminate waste and drive standardization.

    Qualifications:

    Required (Basic) Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Material Science from an accredited institution.

    • Minimum of five (5) years experience in manufacturing engineering or equivalent education in Additive Manufacturing.

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

    • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.

    • CAD Modeling experience.

    • Experience in mistake proofing (Poka-Yoke).

    • Experience in the design of AM Parts and Build Setup.

    • Proficient in the interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

    • Programming and simulation experience.

    • Experience in material testing.
