JOB SUMMARY
The Retail Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the quality of pharmacy services provided. This position collaborates with providers and staff both internal and external to the WhidbeyHealth system to ensure optimal patient care. The Retail Pharmacist duties include dispensing medications, assisting patients with drug information, developing and sustaining strong patient relationships, evaluating and resolving potential drug therapy problems, identifying barriers to care and finding solutions to improve medication adherence, providing thorough patient counseling, prescription verification, adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, supervision of pharmacy technicians and ancillary staff and other duties as assigned by the Specialty Pharmacy Manager or Director of Pharmacy.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
+ Ensuring adequate staffing is present to fulfill the needs of the pharmacy or pharmacy department.
+ Maintaining accurate records of all prescription medication received and dispensed.
+ Ensure policies are in place regarding accurate dispensing and labeling of prescriptions and those policies are followed.
+ Ensure that security of the prescription area and its contents are maintained at all times, including the restriction of persons unauthorized by the pharmacist on duty from being present in the prescription area while the pharmacist is temporarily absent but within the premises and the reporting of any thefts and/or diversions of controlled substances are reported upon discovery to the Office of Drug Control and the Drug Enforcement Administration pursuant to Federal and State requirements.
+ Ensuring only pharmacists and interns under immediate personal supervision provide professional consultation with patients and physicians.
+ Not allowing misbranded, deteriorated, adulterated, improperly stored or outdated drugs or any drugs marked ‘‘sample’’ or with any like designation or meaning are dispensed or present in the active stock in the pharmacy.
+ Maintaining the prescription area in an orderly and sanitary manner.
+ Maintaining that pharmacy and all pharmacy personnel comply with all Federal and State statutes, rules and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.
+ Day-to-day supervision of retail pharmacy staff with some "bench" time and assumption of PIC
+ Applies comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects
+ Contribute to the development of policies and procedures
+ Works on complex projects of large scope
+ Develops technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
+ Solutions are innovative and consistent with organization objectives
+ Completes work; independently receives general guidance on new projects
+ Work reviewed for purpose of meeting objectives
+ May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor of Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Training and Experience
+ Retail experience with excellent communication skills.
+ Experience with disease state management, collaborative work with primary care providers and nursing staff.
+ Knowledge of 340b program preferred
+ Knowledge of all state and federal regulations
+ Ability to work both independently and as a team in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
+ Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with medical information and conform to HIPAA regulations
+ Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required, PharmD preferred
+ 2 years pharmacy management experience, 3-5 years related pharmacy experience, preferred
+ Pharmacist registration in the state where the position is located
+ Ability to work a flexible schedule
+ Interpersonal relations and customer service skills
+ Multitasking and time management skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
+ Washington State DOH Pharmacist License required.
+ Current BLS HCP required.
+ Immunization Certification.

Salary Range: $112,000 to $157,000 annual
