Overview

The International / Foreign Language Translator is responsible for the accurate translation of written documents and forms. This role involves a high level of linguistic proficiency and cultural sensitivity to produce translations that faithfully represent the original content in the target language

This position performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Cayuse.

Responsibilities

+ Translate immigration-related documents, applications, and forms pertaining to various case types.

+ Ensure translated texts accurately convey the style, tone, and intent of the original documents, considering cultural and dialectal variations to produce documents appropriate for the target audience.

+ Produce high-quality translations that are indistinguishable from native compositions in the target language, addressing complex concepts and terminology.

+ The position is focused on translating written documents, with no requirement for spoken interpretation.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

+ United States Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.

+ Eighteen (18) years of age or older.

+ Proficient in grammar with strong written communication skills in English and the target foreign language(s).

+ Must achieve fluency certifications in English and the target foreign language(s) as per standards set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR), or the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) within six months of security approval.

+ **_Ability to Translate in one of the following languages: Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Haitian Creole, Portugeuese, Mandarin, French, and Wolof._**

+ Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

+ Must possess problem-solving skills.

+ Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written

+ Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.

+ Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.

+ Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.

Desired Qualifications:

+ Advanced certifications or degrees in translation, linguistics, language studies, or related fields.

+ Minimum of 2 years of professional translation experience.

+ Proficiency with translation platforms such as MemoQ, Trados, etc.

+ Ability to handle and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

+ Cultural sensitivity during the translation process for both the original and target languages.

+ Professional office environment.

+ Must be available to be on-call as needed to accommodate potential job requests.

+ Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.

+ Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.

Pay Range

USD $28.73 - USD $28.73 /Hr.
