Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

+ Oversee and direct the daily operation of the Environmental Services (ES) Department and Laundry Department, ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment

+ Coordinate with ES Supervisors to ensure that the daily work activities are performed by the staff members; assist ES Director with the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and standards of work

+ Provide leadership and guidance to departmental personnel

+ Maintain a current inventory of supplies and equipment; order and have repaired as needed

+ Ensure that quality standards are met by inspecting all work areas and completed work

+ Make recommendations to the ES Director for changes in supplies, equipment, or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce cost

+ Assist ES Director with scheduling of personnel for proper coverage of the facility

+ Assist with any projects, room cleaning, office cleaning, or floor care work required

+ Inspect and ensure all equipment is working properly

+ Provide regularly scheduled supervisor and staff meetings and inservices

+ Maintain records of orientation of all staff members

+ Assist ES Director in completing performance evaluations

+ Inspect meeting request book daily and ensure that all set requirements are met

+ Inspect meeting location before and after each meeting

+ Ensure that all requests are filed under proper dates and special requests indicated

+ Assist ES Director with resolving departmental concerns, utilizing the grievance process as required

Required Skills/Abilities

+ High school diploma or equivalent required

+ Minimum 3 years of experience in health care environmental services required; additionally, 3 years of supervisory experience preferred

+ Strong communication skills, both written and oral required

+ Must be familiar with health care housekeeping procedures

+ Skillful in the use of all related equipment, to include but not limited to: buffers, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and wet vacuums

+ Basic computer knowledge beneficial
