Overview

Coordinates and conducts maintenance and repairs of company equipment and the building; proactively addresses areas of concern to minimize unplanned downtime, increases equipment efficiency, and maintains a clean, safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and conducts maintenance and repairs of company equipment and the building; proactively addresses areas of concern to minimize unplanned downtime, increases equipment efficiency, and maintains a clean, safe work environment.

• Maintains responsibility for contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications.

• Ensuring that all maintenance activities are documented and are traceable in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and company requirements.

• Performs plumbing/PVC, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and general repairs.

• Performs facilities duties according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Industry Standards

• Operation, troubleshooting and repair of facility and utility equipment including low/ high pressure boilers, chillers, HVAC, water systems, etc. This includes reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and electrical schematics as needed to troubleshoot, repair and maintain the facility and utility equipment.

• Performs painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).

• Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves.

• Dismantles and installs furniture as assigned.

• Collaborates with management and stakeholders proposing and implementing technical solutions

• Remains vigilant to all building automation alarms. Maintains working knowledge of Building Automation System.

• Transports goods or equipment as assigned.

• Support building and manufacturing/lab infrastructure.

• Work off hours and over time when required.

• Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals

• Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

• Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices and their associated documentation.

• Other duties as assigned

• May be required to assist in other departments

Qualifications

Experience / Education

• 1 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience

• Technical Certification preferred (i.e. Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC/R)

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• HVAC (including troubleshooting, repair, & filter changes)

• Electrical (including installs, troubleshooting, repairs from low voltage up to 480V)

• Plumbing and Piping (including compressed gas and cryogenic)

• Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills

• Need to be able to read, write and understand English

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.

• Must be able to work in Lab setting with Biohazards /various Chemicals

• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE

• Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

• Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time

• Ability to Lift 50 lbs routinely

• Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach

• Ability to push/pull 50 lbs routinely/ often / occasionally

• Clarity of Vision

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors

• Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

• Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding

• Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing

• Inside/outside working conditions
