    Minimum Qualifications:

    + High school graduate or GED

    + No experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Associate’s degree in environmental, natural, or applied science, or related field, and or 6 months of related experience.

    Job Summary:

    Provides basic technical assistance in the administration of policies, standards, and regulations relating to environmental health and safety under general supervision.

    Job Duties:

    + Coordinates work duties within program areas and with contractors.

    + Provides technical support on safety assignments within established time frames.

    + Performs calibration, inspection, or testing of safety equipment.

    + Assists in the development and delivery of safety training programs.

    + Assists in the development and implementation of new/improved work processes.

    Marginal or Periodic Functions:

    + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

    + Performs related duties as required.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Knowledge in environmental health & safety regulations

    + Ability to inspect, test, monitor, or measure safe environmental levels

    Working Environment/Equipment:

    + Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments.

    + Potential exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. May involve strenuous activity such as walking, lifting, and moving of material. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection, chemical resistant clothing, etc.

    + Standard office equipment and equipment used to ensure safe environmental levels.

    + May be required to pass the "Basic Radiation Safety in the Laboratory" course within the first 6 months of employment.

    + May be required to achieve or maintain 24- or 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations certification according to 29 CFR 1910 requirements within first 6 months of hire.

    Salary Range:

    Actual salary commensurate with experience or range if discussed and approved by hiring authority.

    Other:

    Eligible for unescorted access to category 1 and category 2 quantities of radioactive material based upon Trustworthiness and Reliability determination (25 TAC §289.252/10 CFR Part 37).
