EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
+ 5 years related pharmacy experience.
+ 5 years of management experience including 2 years of supervisory experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
+ Texas Licensed Pharmacist.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ PharmD
+ M.S., MBA, or MHA
+ Completed Pharmacy PGYI/PGYII Pharmacy Informatics Residency
+ Completed Pharmacy Residency PGYI/PGYII HSPAL Residency
+ Experience with operating a hospital based 340B program
+ Management experience in health-system pharmacy informatics as appropriate for position.
+ Epic Willow Inpatient, Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Willow Inventory certification/accreditation/proficiency with build experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Function: Oversees, plans, and directs all medication-use technology, informatics, and automation services across the UTMB Health System. Responsible for the support of procurement, storage, pharmacy automation, pharmacy data analytics, pharmacy technology, dispensing systems and control of all pharmaceuticals via technology within the UTMB Health System and for the promotion of rational, cost effective and appropriate drug usage.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Oversees and is responsible for Pharmacy Informatics, Automation, and Analytic services at all UTMB Health System.
+ Makes provisions for the interviewing, appointing, training, and evaluation of all members of the pharmacy staff.
+ Makes provisions for complying with all legal regulations applying to institutional and ambulatory pharmacy functions.
+ Responsible for identifying and implementing appropriate internal controls and reconciliation measured for the department; implements mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
+ Responsible for overseeing the design, implementation and management of a safe and effective medication-use systems, ensuring that systems are developed and improved based on evidence and best practices, operating effectively and efficiently across the continuum of care.
+ Responsible for developing business continuity plans for the continued operation of medication-use systems and the provision of Pharmacy services during emergencies and disasters.
+ Prepares reports and conducts studies including cost analysis, preparation of the annual report, budget and physical inventory.
+ Assist the Administrative Director of Pharmacy in developing continuous strategic and business planning.
+ Assumes the responsibility for the safe working conditions for the pharmacy staff.
+ Supports the Joint Commission (TJC) Medication Management standards across the UTMB Health System.
+ Collaborates with the Administrative Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Leadership to leverage technology and automated systems to optimize the medication use systems.
+ Responsible for all medication-use functions within Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Supports Clinical IS Leadership to achieve UTMB Health System goals and metrics.
+ Responsible for all pharmaceutical security, inventory control, diversion prevention, and distribution policies including reverse distribution and other methods of pharmaceutical waste disposal in conjunction with Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Procurement and Pharmacy Quality Leadership.
+ Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
+ Supports and precepts pharmacy residency programs and pharmacy student rotations.

+ Performs related duties as assigned.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with all UTMB professionals with various backgrounds.
+ Ability to develop, organize, and accomplish goals. Ability to develop, implement and lead all aspects of Pharmacy Informatics, Automation and Data Analytics to support Pharmacy Operations, Leadership and the UTMB Health System.
+ Technically competent knowledge of Pharmacy IS Systems, automated medication dispensing systems (ADS), Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and contemporary pharmacy technology systems.
+ Ability to quickly implement change as required by federal, state, and other regulatory agencies.
+ Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate data to make appropriate recommendations and decisions.
+ Leadership and management skills to direct and guide others appropriately and to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders both internal to pharmacy and external partners.
+ Preparation and analysis of operating budgets and capital equipment evaluation.
+ Effective problem-solving skills.
