    Glimpse of the Job

     

    Join the Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team (VET) as a Logistics Coordinator : Lead logistics during deployments, maintain accurate non-medical inventory, and assists with training team members. Coordinate equipment and support business duties for seamless emergency response operations.

     

    The largest and most sophisticated team of its kind in the country, the Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team (VET) (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/vet/) provides medical support to urban search-and-rescue teams and resident animals in response to natural and manmade disasters at the request of the Texas A&M Task Force or county jurisdictions, while training future Aggie Veterinarians in emergency preparedness and response.

    Opportunities to Contribute

    + Logistics: Serves as Logistics Chief during deployments, ensuring consistent day-to-day logistical activities. Assists with Overseeing VET members training and audits deployable VET inventory.

    + Training: Trains and supports staff in outreach and team training activities. Oversees technical operations and maintenance training for staff, and coordinates equipment maintenance.

    + Business: Prepares, tracks, and reconciles purchase orders and invoices for day-to-day operations and during times of deployment.

    + Deployment: Drives a vehicle to carry passengers and/or medical supplies to deployment locations, which may be within Texas or outside of the state.

     

    Minimum Required Qualifications

     

    Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Two years of experience managing equipment (trucks, trailers, generators), with preference to someone with experience managing first responder equipment.

     

    Licenses/Certifications: Must have a Class A or B driver’s license or ability to obtain one within six months of employment. Must be able to handle multiple equipment types (Box truck, Gooseneck and bumper pull trailers, and a forklift.

    The well-qualified candidate will also possess

    + Bachelor’s degree in applicable field

    + Two years of experience in a first responder medical or veterinary medical organization

    + Experience managing first responder equipment

    + Familiarity with emergency management reimbursement process

    + Familiarity with emergency management accountability procedures

    + Familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft programs

    + Basic mechanical aptitude consistent with performance of maintenance functions

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills

     

    What you need to know

     

    Salary: Starting at $45,000 annually, c ompensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

     

    Other: The selected candidate must maintain participation in the VET deployment health and fitness qualification program administered by the Biosafety and Occupational Health Program.
