Job Description
The Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences at a higher education client is seeking a Direct Support/Academic Assessor for the Inclusive Postsecondary Education Program (IPSE). This role involves supporting students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in secondary and postsecondary education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct academic support to IPSE students.
- Assess students' academic needs in their respective courses
- Recruit peer mentors from various colleges to support students in the IPSE program.
- Coordinate with the IPSE Curriculum Specialist and Academic Access Coordinator.
- Conduct workshops on inclusion and supporting young adults with IDD.
- Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and college policies.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelors degree in Special Education, Higher Education, or a related field (Masters preferred).
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, particularly in an academic or educational setting.
Strong knowledge of person-centered planning and teaching practices.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and other university stakeholders.
Familiarity with assistive technology and other tools that support academic accessibility. Licensed clinician
Classroom teachers and/or k-12 experience
QDDP- or qualified professional- or CRC- certified rehabilitation counselor
Experience with peer mentorship models for young adults with IDD.
Demonstrated administrative, supervisory, and leadership skills
Demonstrated capacity to work with young adults and families from culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse backgrounds. null
