    Description

    Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: Supervision of assigned programs and staff in a manner that integrates a safe environment with individual client treatment plans.

     

    Principal Assigned Responsibilities:1. Ensure a safe, clean and attractive therapeutic environment in assigned residential program, including evaluation and purchase of needed supplies and materials.2. Direct and ensure child care workers adhere to agency policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.3. Participate in client service plan review/treatment team meetings and direct and ensure child care workers' implementation of life space components of individual client treatment plans.4. Develop and establish program routines and schedules in compliance with agency policy.5. Participate in the development of program budget and ensure compliance relative to income and expenses in area of responsibility throughout the course of the fiscal year.6. Participate in 24-hour on-call procedures for handling client, program and staffing crisis and available to arrive on campus within 45 minutes of a call if needed.7. Interview and recommend new staff hires in collaboration with other program supervisors coordinate the completion of all hiring, resignation and termination tasks with the Human Resources Department.8. Oversee site-specific and agency-wide mandated orientation training of all new staff assigned to program in accordance with agency and site-specific policies and procedures.9. Participate as a trainer and provide training per the agency’s Training Program, specific to TCI and the Sanctuary Modules. 10. Supervise all child care and staff assigned to program. 11. Plan and co-lead weekly staff meetings, assure written minutes are taken for all meetings.12. Facilitate and/or ensure residents “kids meetings” are scheduled weekly, conducted and documented.13. Participate in professional development training, including skills' development training for clients as determined.14. Provide direct child care services to program and direct observation of staff in program on a scheduled or unannounced basis, including evening and week-end hours, as evidenced by two scheduled late nights and one unannounced visit minimally monthly.15. Monitor program compliance budgetary, human resource, purchasing and other related agency requirements or guidelines.16. Conduct monthly fire drills in accordance with regulatory and accrediting body requirements.17. Ensure provision of reliable information to clinical, educational and psychiatric staff regarding behavioral observations of clients per site-specific protocols.18. Facilitate family or other client visits in concert with Case Planners and provide necessary arrangements for supervision and transportation for residents and families, when needed.19. Active participation in agency committees, including but not limited to, Management Team and The Behavior Support Team. 20. Ensure trauma informed care Behavior Support Management expectation are communicated and implemented.21. Review and investigate Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Reports, Client Incident/Accident Reports, Client Complaint Forms and Staff/Visitor Accident Reports in accordance with agency policy and procedures. Document findings and recommendations to appropriate administrative and clinical staff in a timely manner.22. Actively participate in program and agency-wide Quality Assessment and Improvement activities in accordance with the agency's ongoing Quality Improvement Program.23. Actively engage in Integration meetings. Program supervisor meetings to ensure collaboration with clinical & recreation aspects of program. 24. Related task and duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    1. High school diploma or equivalency with one year experience working with children and/or families, two years preferred. 2. One year supervisory experience required.

Demonstrated knowledge of behavior treatment and social skills' development of youth in residential settings4. Ability to form effective relationships with youth in care.8. Ability to engage in collaborative working relationships with agency staff, professionals from other agencies and regulatory bodies.9. Strong emphasis placed on prior supervisory experience.10. Understanding of basic needs and developmental issues of children in a way that promotes growth and respects individuality.11. Strong understanding of and ability to teach trauma informed care.12. Asks age and developmentally appropriate questions and actively listens to children’s responses.13. Develops a warm, positive, nurturing relationship with each child.14. Follows mandated reporting requirements regarding child abuse and neglect.15. Practices infection control, including appropriate hand washing procedures. 16. Supports staff in applying knowledge of child development and learning in daily practice.17. Guides staff in using interactions that support children’s social emotional development.18. Ensure that staff are trained to plan and implement developmentally appropriate treatment plans.19. Valid New York State Driver’s license.
