    This is an in-person position in Troy/Warren, MI office.

    Ultium Cells Overview:

    Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

    Position Description:

    The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible to purchase and manage the receipt of imported and domestic raw materials. This position will also coordinate production needs and scheduling with the Production Scheduler. Frequent communication with headquarters, customers, and vendors will be necessary. Potential exists for short-term travel to visit equipment and material suppliers.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Must negotiate, report, and purchase from U.S. and foreign vendors

    + Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates

    + Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments

    + Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials

    + Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes

    + Manage schedule deliveries, etc.

    + Participate in monthly closing activities including physical inventory check, data entry, administrative tasks, analytical reports reflecting manufacturing cost, inventory amount, sales record, etc.

    + Additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications and Competencies:

    + Bachelor’s Degree required in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related fields

    + SAP experience strongly preferred

    + Experience working in an automotive or automated manufacturing environment preferred

    + 1+ years of relevant purchasing experience, including raw material purchasing, international purchasing and/or negotiating

    + +4 Years Industrial Purchasing Experience

    + Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections

    + Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation

    + Ability to use problem solving and critical thinking skills to achieve goals

    + Capable of working in a collaborative team environment

    + Bilingual skills in Korean and English (speaking & writing) preferred
