The Hydraulics Unit provides technical expertise, guidance, design, and quality assurance to manage stormwater, riverine and coastal impacts in and around roadways for the protection of the public, the environment and NCDOT assets at every transportation project phase. The Hydraulics Unit is seeking an experienced and motivated Administrative Specialist II.
In this role you will:
+ Process invoices and administer/process contracts with private engineering firms (PEF).
+ Process all personnel and position actions to initiate hires, promotions, transfers, separations, FMLA, LOA and reallocations in the Fiori Payroll System.
+ Review and ensure all HR forms and requests are completed accurately, and according to policies and guidelines.
+ Answer staffs’ HR and/or benefits questions
+ Provide administrative support to the Unit Head and the Unit’s upper management staff.
+ Serve as liaison between the Unit and the Division office and other offices as needed.
+ Create, compile and generate personnel reports for management.
+ Prepare necessary paperwork for all out-of-state travel.
+ Manage record retention, archival and disposal activities.
+ Serve as NCVIP Liaison; fixed assets, training, p-card and BSIPS security coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

+ Experience applying office management techniques, policies, and administrative procedures to support efficient daily operations.
+ Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to prepare documents, manage data, and coordinate communications.
+ Experience providing customer service by resolving inquiries, addressing issues, and maintaining professional interactions.
+ Experience applying prioritization strategies and managing workflows to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
+ Knowledge of Fiori (BEACON) and SAP systems, with experience creating purchase orders, processing invoices, and supporting budget management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
