    Description

    A client of ours is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a contract-to-hire basis. This position plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of a dynamic non-profit organization. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and self-motivated professional with a strong background in accounting and financial analysis, capable of working independently and managing complex financial processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Perform bank reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable reconciliations, and AP processing

    + Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including complex journal entries and general ledger reconciliations

    + Ensure accuracy of accruals, transaction reviews, and financial reporting

    + Review vendor setups for ACH payments and ensure accuracy and compliance

    + Oversee contract billing and collections across multiple programs, including Medicaid billing and collections

    + Develop and implement billing processes and track funding sources for various programs

    + Ensure daily accounting operations run smoothly, while effectively prioritizing tasks and workloads

    + Address escalations and proactively resolve service disruptions in a timely manner

    + Maintain appropriate segregation of duties and support the ongoing assessment of internal controls

    + Manage full-cycle accounts payable and support preparation of monthly financials

    + Administer and maintain accounting information systems, including automated systems and custom reporting tools

    + Maintain accurate asset management records, reconcile inventory with fixed asset ledgers

    + Assist with audit preparation and coordination

    + Provide departmental support as a help desk administrator, ensuring timely response to escalations and SLA breaches

    + Conduct variance and trend analysis, and provide explanations to internal financial statement users

    + Manipulate and analyze large data sets from multiple systems to support financial modeling and decision-making

    + Assist with cash flow and financial projections and conduct time studies in accordance with regulatory guidelines

    + Generate and distribute ad-hoc and scheduled financial reports

    + Support and lead special projects as assigned

    + Identify and implement process improvements to promote financial efficiency and consistency

    + Comply with all applicable contract, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures

    + May be required to drive company vehicles and must meet insurability and training requirements

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting

    + Master’s degree and experience in non-profit or government-funded organizations preferred

    + Strong proficiency in Excel, general ledger, purchasing, and data analysis tools

    + Experience with accounting software systems and automated reporting tools

    + Demonstrated ability to work with complex data and communicate financial insights effectively

    + Experience in Sage Intacct is a plus!
