Are you an experienced accounting professional with a passion for accuracy, meaningful analysis, and cross-department collaboration? A world renowned financial services company in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a Senior Accountant to play a critical role on their financial team. This position involves maintaining financial integrity, delivering impactful reporting, and supporting the organization’s strategic goals through process improvements and operational tasks.
+ Prepare and record monthly and quarterly journal entries, ensuring accounts are reconciled and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
+ Conduct variance analysis to evaluate trends and identify notable shifts in general ledger activity.
+ Create and present detailed financial reports for senior leadership on a regular basis.
+ Manage operational accounting for Capex, investments, prepaid expenses, and treasury functions.
+ Collaborate in budgeting and forecasting efforts by producing accurate and relevant financial data.
+ Support year-end audit preparations and regulatory compliance reviews to meet required standards.
+ Identify inefficiencies in current processes and propose solutions for improvement.
+ Stay current on accounting practices and industry developments through professional learning opportunities.
+ Lead and complete ad hoc projects as requested by leadership.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise along with a highly detail-oriented mindset. Essential qualifications include:
+ A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
+ 2 or more years of accounting experience, ideally within public accounting.
+ Experience with the financial services industry is a plus.
+ Solid proficiency in general ledger management, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation.
+ Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and financial reporting.
+ Experience with month-end close processes and public accounting audits.
+ Strong knowledge of accounting principles and their real-world application.
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
+ CPA is preferred but not mandatory.
