$155,885.60 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
*Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing the integrity and reliability of substations and transmission grid, promote safety awareness among personnel, ensure the timely restoration of service and efficiently use resources to meet the Cooperative’s Strategic Initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Manage operational activities of the Substation, Transmission, and Warehouse departments
+ Promote safety awareness and direct weekly safety meetings
+ Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting and enforcing safety policies or best practices implemented by the Safety department
+ Promote proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
+ Manage substation and transmission improvement projects and private entity projects effecting substation and transmission facilities
+ Plan and direct the activities of Cooperative resources and contractors that relate to the operations, maintenance, and repair of the substation and transmission grid
+ Ensure that operations is in accordance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, Cooperative policies, procedures and NERC maintenance requirements
+ May direct the activities of employees, contractors, and Cooperative crews during emergency service restoration
+ Serve as Emergency Operation Plan designee for the Local Incident Commander
+ Develop and implement programs to ensure system reliability
+ Develop and implement techniques and processes for evaluating, maximizing efficiency and effectiveness of preventative and corrective maintenance
+ Provide leadership and direction to achieve expected performance results in safety, quality, and efficiency while identifying and implementing solutions
+ Participate in organizational committees

+ Review and manage warehouse related activities to ensure compliance, materials availability and efficient operation
+ Review, manage and approve invoices
+ Develop, manage and implement major emergency restoration efforts
+ Develop and implement emergency operations action plan
+ Assist with the development and evaluation of policies and procedures
+ Be a positive role model and ethical leader
+ Oversee the transmission and substation distribution switching schedules
+ Administer the substation and transmission line maintenance asset management database
+ Participate with engineering in ensuring compliance with NERC standards and rules
+ Oversee the process of commissioning and energization of new substations and substation equipment
+ Oversee the installation of mobile substations
+ Oversee the de-energization of existing substations for new construction
+ Oversee the maintenance of substation and transmission equipment
+ Maintain awareness and ongoing knowledge base of NERC standards as they relate to substation and transmission assets
+ Resolve customer complaints and answer customers' questions regarding Substation & Transmission Maintenance Department management policies and procedures

+ Supervise the work of office, administrative or customer service employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems
+ Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
+ Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management
+ Discuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problems
+ Teach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be provided
+ Evaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel action
+ Recruit, instruct and supervise subordinates
+ Interpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staff
+ Develop and review operating procedures
+ Develop and manage the Substation Maintenance Department budget
+ Establish work priorities and activities
+ Recommend promotions, transfers, hires and other disciplinary action
+ Establish metrics and prepare monthly reports for the Substation Maintenance Department
+ Coordinate Substation Maintenance Department activities with other departments
+ Maintain the security of confidential information
+ Stay abreast of advances in technology
+ Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
+ Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Supervisory and/or Leadership Responsibilities
A full range of supervisory activities, training, evaluation, counseling and recommendation for termination. This includes, but is not limited to, effectively communicating organizational policies and other information to subordinates, ensuring that employees have a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and budgeting
+ Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
+ Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
+ Knowledge and experience with high voltage equipment
+ Skilled in monitoring and managing performance
+ Skilled in establishing and communicating performance expectations and metrics
+ Skilled in time management
+ Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
+ Skilled in anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving conflict and problems
+ Ability to use computer systems and applications

Minimum Qualifications - (Education, Experience)
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
+ Directly related experience may substitute for education
+ Fifteen years of directly related work experience (Utility Substation Operations and Maintenance), including seven years of leadership experience
+ Valid Driver’s License

+ Exempt employees receive a fixed bi-weekly salary to compensate them for all hours worked during each pay period
+ This position may be required to work more than 40 hours per week
