*Position Summary:*Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is looking for a Lead Lab Assistant to coordinate and oversee preanalytical laboratory services

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Collects and processes specimens per state licensure

* Greets customers, and collaborates with other departments

* Labels, processes, and delivers specimens for testing

* Collects blood specimens using age-appropriate techniques

* Maintains equipment and supplies

* Assists with blood drives, including patient interviews and screenings

* Oversees daily activities and competency of phlebotomists and students, ensuring safe patient care and customer satisfaction

* Promotes teamwork and serves as a leader, mentor, and role model, practicing the hospital’s core values

* Acts as a technical expert, trainer, and resource for the phlebotomy team

* Performs waived, moderately complex, and point-of-care testing on patient samples under a General Supervisor

* Assists the Laboratory Director with scheduling, policy development, and maintenance

* Manages inventory, reduces waste, and improves supply usage

* Escalates personnel concerns confidentially to the Laboratory Director

* Provides feedback on hiring decisions and performance evaluations

* Participates in process improvement teams as assigned

* Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions (if a Medical Laboratory Technician):

* Performs high complexity testing on patient samples under the direction of a Laboratory General Supervisor

* Assists the Point of Care (POC) Coordinator

* Participates in proficiency surveys

* Performs QC and calibrations, as needed

* Assists with reagent and blood product inventory, as needed.

*Minimum Qualifications:*

* *Licenses:*State of NV Department of Health and Human Services - Laboratory Assistant License (requires application submitted upon hire. Status "pending" for up to 6 months) REQUIRED. State of NV Department of Health and Human Services - Point of Care Analyst within one year. State of NV Department of Health and Human Services - License Clinical Laboratory Technologist preferred.

* *Certification:*American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire (non-AHA BLS certification valid only from date of hire until the date of expiration, not to exceed 1 year).
