The Plant Engineer develops and improves manufacturing systems by studying product and manufacturing methods, identifying areas/processes for improvement, conducting feasibility studies, proposing equipment/system improvements, developing system design and specifications, and execution of capital projects.
Specific responsibilities may include:
+ Design and measure methods/metrics to further ensure quality of product and process efficiencies.
+ Assist in development of efficient and effective ways to use people, machines, materials and new technologies.
+ Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
+ Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization’s competitive edge.
+ Propose and document production systems to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability while adhering to industry standards.
+ Work with equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and managers to develop cost-effective and working production systems to improve production output.
+ Design layout of equipment and workspaces in collaboration with engineers and teams.
+ Provide engineering support to production and maintenance.
+ Manage execution of capital projects.
+ Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program and Quality Management System.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and training:
+ Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, industrial, or manufacturing) required.
Experience:
+ 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing and packaging environment preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Excellent computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD, Rockwell, etc.).
+ Experience in CAD (2D and 3D modeling)
+ Experience with electrical systems, controls systems, and mechanical layout of equipment.
+ Demonstrates clear, concise and relevant communication (verbal and written) within and across departments.
+ Ability to share information, transfer knowledge and seek input.
+ Problem solving skills; ability to identify source of problem; execute solution and document the issue; escalate to management.
+ Approach all interactions and work situations in a positive and respectful manner.
+ Ability to prepare and present clear and accurate reports.
+ Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, including weekends.

+ Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8-10 hours per day and at significant heights and on catwalks?
+ Able to lift 25 lbs, frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs, and occasionally pushes/pulls up to 100 lbs.
+ Exposure to moving machinery and mobile equipment, including electrical and electronic equipment.
+ Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
+ Frequent travel: valid driver’s license required.
