Job Title: Lead Project Accountant
Job Description
Join our team as a Project Accountant - Team Lead, where you will mentor and guide a team of 3-4 project accountants. You will play a pivotal role in aligning financial goals with project execution and ensuring financial performance targets are met. This is an exciting opportunity to build strong relationships with business leaders and cross-functional teams while contributing to the strategic financial planning of our projects.
Responsibilities
+ Mentor and oversee a team of project accountants, providing support and professional development.
+ Build strong relationships with business leaders and cross-functional teams.
+ Translate project plans and resource needs into accurate financial forecasts and annual budgets.
+ Monitor key financial metrics such as revenue, gross profit, and expenses.
+ Oversee project reviews and communicate financial updates, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
+ Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure project budgets and forecasts are accurate.
+ Track billing schedules, receivables, and cost overruns.
+ Monitor and report on project cash flow and escalate significant variances.
+ Coordinate intercompany transactions and ensure proper documentation and accounting.
+ Support month-end close activities, financial summaries, and rolling forecasts.
+ Partner with Shared Services and Accounting for accurate billing, collections, and financial reporting.
+ Identify and implement process improvements, including automation of routine tasks.
+ Use financial insights to support strategic decision-making and improve business outcomes.
+ Stay current on industry trends, project management practices, and financial reporting standards.
Essential Skills
+ Strong background in project or technical accounting.
+ Expertise in POC accounting.
+ Ability to clearly communicate company direction and purpose.
+ Hands-on experience with ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics AX or SAP.
+ Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ 5-10 years of experience in project accounting within construction, manufacturing, or similar settings.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance, with a solid understanding of GAAP.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ IFRS knowledge is a big plus.
+ Familiarity with reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, or BW.
+ Experience working with relational databases (Access or similar) and strong data analysis skills.
+ Knowledge of Percentage of Completion (PoC) accounting is highly preferred.
+ Manufacturing or cost accounting experience is a bonus.
+ CPA or other professional certifications are a plus.
+ Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presenting to leadership.
+ Quick thinker who can contribute meaningfully in meetings and adapt on the fly.
+ A proactive learner who’s eager to grow and take on new challenges.
+ Solid understanding of finance operations and how they support business goals.
Work Environment
This role requires in-office presence four days a week, with equipment provided for remote work on the fifth day. You will work closely with a Project Accountant team lead and a small team of project accountants, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
