Responsibilities
Consistent with scope of licensure, parameters of the California LVN Nurse Practice Act, and Mercy Medical Center (MMC) policy and procedure, renders nursing care to assigned patient populations under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Collects data that allows the Registered Nurse to assess patients for nursing needs, and establish and implement a problem oriented plan of nursing care.
Implements the plan of nursing care, performs technical nursing procedures and provides direct nursing care. Patient age populations served, and the specific competencies that comprise this job title may vary among nursing units. These specifics are found in the "Department / Unit Orientation & Initial Assessment of Competency" checklists for this unit/position, and -by reference - form a part of this job description.
+ Demonstrates an understanding and respect of patient rights and responsibilities. Provides care in a manner that is cognizant of, and respectful towards the religious, cultural, linguistic and ethnic belief systems of the patient and their identified family structure Obtains translation services when appropriate and for all legal documents in the patient's primary language; documents services utilized in the patient records. Follows all EMTALA and Cobra policies and procedures. Assures paperwork is completed prior to transferring to another facility. Assures patients Advance Directive wishes are addressed. Form is completed and necessary referrals are made as indicated.
STANDARD:
1.Developmental age competency is assessed by one or more of the following methods: direct observation, listening and auditing of documentation.
2.Cultural & Linguistic competency is assessed by one or more of the following methods: direct observation, listening and auditing of documentation for the use of interpreters services.
3.There are no serious occurrences of valid patient or family complaints regarding privacy or confidentiality
4.There are no breaches of the facilities policy and procedures regarding patient rights.
Qualifications
Minimum:
+ Must possess and maintain a current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license with the State of California
+ Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate we accept American Heart Association
+ Must possess a current IV Therapy certificate
+ Must be able to take call, float to other areas, and work on weekends as required.

Pay Range
$23.00 - $32.66 /hour
