    POSITION: Parking Services Lead - (This position follows all provisions of the UTU/SMART TD collective bargaining agreement.)

     

    REPORTS TO: Parking Services Manager and Parking Services Supervisors

     

    AIRPORT: Albany International Airport

    SUMMARY

    Under the direction of the Parking Services Manager directs the Parking Services Attendants, Shuttle Operators and Parking Maintenance Employees in daily tasks associated with collecting parking fees and maintaining an orderly transaction flow in the Airport’s ground transportation system, including the public and employee parking lots and the commercial vehicle zones by performing the following duties. This position may also perform various training duties and functions, while assisting management in creating an unparalleled customer service experience for all airport users. May require occasional overtime, with evening and weekend shift work. Duties and assignments may change periodically.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Performs Parking Services Attendant functions to augment and/or relieve during peak periods, as assigned.

    + Deposits parking monies and makes withdraws from the safe, in connection with collecting and allocating cashiering station receipts and operating banks.

    + Verifies starting banks, Conditional Vehicle Releases (CVR’s) lost ticket transactions and validations

    + Total and summarizes funds received, endorses checks, and prepares bank and armored car deposit slips.

    + Oversees armored car pickups

    + Orders money as needed through the bank service.

    + Responds to reports of malfunctioning equipment. Performs routine and emergency equipment maintenance and repairs.

    + Assists in preparation of staff schedules and shift coverage for vacation and sick time absences.

    + Issues oral and written instructions

    + Examines Parking Services Attendant, Shuttle Operator and Parking Maintenance work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.

    + Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.

    + Adjust errors and addresses customer complaints.

    + Patrols areas to prevent thefts from parked automobiles, to identify maintenance needs and to provide customer assistance, as required.

    + Inspects/services pay station equipment. Maintains cash levels and provides an accounting of monies collected/receipts to accounting/management.

    + Ensures all Parking Facilities and equipment are clean, orderly and well maintained.

    + Assists with removal of all snow and ice from roadways and parking lots during assigned shifts.

    + Assists construction efforts by providing traffic control, customer assistance and staging assistance.

    + Participates in Total Quality Management Programs.

    LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Leads and transmits instructions, work assignments and other orders from the Supervisor to the Cashiers.

    + Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

    + Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMAICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    REASONING ABILITY

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s license as a condition of employment.
