    Job Description

    The Certified Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting physicians in an office setting, ensuring efficient patient care and support.

    Responsibilities

    + Greet and escort patients to exam rooms following rooming standards.

    + Set up exam rooms and interview patients, measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on patients' charts.

    + Instruct patients on preparation for tests and procedures.

    + Record laboratory, x-ray, ECG results, and other pertinent medical data in patients' charts.

    + Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring the physician sees all necessary information.

    + Clean and stock exam rooms, including monthly instrument cleaning, sterilization of instruments, and refilling of supplies as needed.

    + Handle patient telephone calls as directed by the Triage Nurse.

    + Screen patient telephone calls to physicians and relay advice, information, and instructions from the physician.

    + Call in prescriptions and refills to pharmacies under physician direction.

    + Schedule special appointments such as referrals, surgeries, x-ray, and lab.

    + Assess and schedule appointments for patients.

    + Speak to callers, patients, physicians, and other staff in a polite, courteous, and understandable manner that reflects a commitment to high-quality customer service.

    + Abstract medical information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

    + Medical Assisting

    + Medical Assistant Certification or Registration

    + Clinic Experience

    + Charting

    + Epic Electronic Health Record

    + Triage

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Must have active Medical Assistant Certification or be actively registered

    + 1 year of clinic experience preferred

    + EPIC experience

    Work Environment

    The position offers a 4-day work week with varying schedules depending on the physician and float position requirements, generally between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Full-time Medical Assistants work 36-40 hours per week, while part-time positions may involve a 3-day work week. The clinic does not operate on weekends or holidays, providing a balanced work-life environment. The facility includes a lab and radiology department, supporting a team of 31 providers.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
