Job Title: Software Developer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our dynamic team. The role involves creating, modifying, and understanding applications using various programming languages and technologies. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and grow into architectural or technical leadership roles.
Responsibilities
+ Partner with the team to understand, create, and modify applications using programming languages and technologies such as Linux and deployment technologies like Kickstart, Containers, and Virtual Machines.
+ Utilize scripting languages including Bash, tcsh, and Python.
+ Design, develop, evaluate, and test system/software integration.
+ Interpret, assess, and support maintenance of requirements to develop software designs.
+ Design and implement solutions within a team environment with minimal direction.
+ Communicate regularly with functional team leads to ensure effective work partnerships.
+ Explore opportunities to grow into architectural and/or technical leadership roles.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of Software Development experience.
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technology field.
+ Experience with C/Linux and scripting languages (Bash, tcsh).
+ Command of object-oriented software development.
+ Experience with development in Linux-based environments.
+ Proficiency with Git version control.
+ Strong problem-solving, application testing, and debugging capabilities.
+ Working knowledge of basic networking and network protocols.
+ Familiarity with agile and/or traditional software development life cycle (SDLC) approaches.
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work and thrive in both individual and team-based development environments.
+ Active Department of Defense security clearance required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience developing containerized applications with Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
+ Application performance optimization across all tiers.
+ Linux system administration as part of software development.
+ Experience presenting to stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership.
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted at NUWC, with internet connectivity available but no cell phone usage. Some meetings will be held at the client location. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
