Dental Hygienist
Under professional direction of a Dentist and administrative supervision of the Oral Health Director this position is responsible for performing all aspects of dental hygiene practice. Dental hygiene practice may include dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, oral screenings, topical fluoride applications, taking of radiographs, and provision of dental health education on an individual or group basis as directed by established policies and procedures.
1. Take radiographic exposures and enter into software program.
2. Perform a complete oral prophylaxis, which may include:
a. Removing calcareous deposits, accretions and stains from the surface of teeth;
b. Performing deep periodontal scaling, including root planning, and
c. Polishing natural and restored tooth surfaces.
3. Record and report clinical services provided and findings made during the practice of dental hygiene for the supervising dentist to review.
4. Provide preventive measures including sealants, topical application of fluorides and other topical agents for the prevention of oral disease.
5. At the delegation of the dentist and per state statures and administrative code, administer oral systemic pre-medications and sub gingival sustained release, chemotherapeutic agents to patients.
6. Take patient blood pressure prior to administering anesthesia per state statutes and administrative code.
7. On a one-to-one or group session basis, provide instructions in oral hygiene and plaque control procedures to include brushing and flossing instructions and nutrition as related dental disease.
8. Develop and present dental health education materials and programs.
9. Maintain a system of recall for routine hygiene patients and those hygiene patients with chronic medical conditions.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
• Licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin, free of restrictions and maintain licensure.
• Certified in Dental Anesthesia.
• Maintain BLS certification.
Schedule:
Open to full-time and part-time candidates! Willing to be flexible with schedule needs!
Typical fulltime schedule is Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7:30am and 6pm. Fridays 7:30am to Noon
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $63772.80 - $95638.40/yr.
