Summer Special Events Assistant

The Office of Special Events and Conferences oversees several programs and camps throughout the summer. This position supports the daily operations of summer camps and events and is often the first point of contact on campus. Serving in a public relations capacity, it greets group organizers and participants, and provides courteous, efficient assistance throughout their stay.
Work Days: Flexible, with evening and weekend availability as needed
Shift Start/End Times: 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Hours Per Week: 20 – 30
Weeks Per Year: 8 weeks; June 16 - August 8

Summer Events Assistant
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Temporary
Supervisor: Director of Special Events
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
+ Remove items from storage and deliver to designated locations. Return items to storage after camp departures.
+ Prepare and maintain housing accommodations, including inspecting, lowering beds in rooms prior to arrival and resetting upon departure, and reporting any room damage.
+ Conduct linen inventories and coordinate linen distribution and retrieval.
+ Monitor events to ensure timely and efficient service.
+ Deliver packages and mail to camp groups.
+ Assist with the set-up and break-down of events held throughout campus facilities, including moving tables, chairs, and related equipment.
+ Participate in group check-ins and check-outs.
+ Inventory classroom furniture and report any discrepancies.
+ Perform tasks necessary to support the daily operations of the summer groups.
+ Hours are flexible and will include evenings and/or weekends.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Valid New York State Driver's License.
+ Comfortable operating the department-assigned golf cart.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends.
+ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
+ Comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment.
+ Strong customer service skills .
Compensation:
The hourly range for this position is $16.00. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting
