We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This role involves working Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 11:30 PM and weekend shifts from 11 PM to 7:30 AM. You will play a crucial role in clinical laboratory testing, contributing to our reputable health system.
Responsibilities
+ Perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex tests under general supervision.
+ Utilize automated equipment and specialized processes to test specimens, accurately interpret results, and identify abnormal findings.
+ Adhere to all laboratory procedures including patient identification, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, and data entry into the laboratory information system.
+ Recognize, document, and communicate unusual and/or critical result values.
+ Perform and monitor quality control processes and establish and maintain quality assurance systems.
+ Engage in quality improvement programs to ensure the accuracy and validity of test results.
+ Conduct calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on instrumentation according to standard procedures.
+ Participate in the preparation and evaluation of maintenance schedules and operating procedures for new instrumentation.
+ Perform troubleshooting for instrumentation, reagents, and samples, and evaluate methods for solutions.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis.
+ Experience with Chemistry Bench, Hematology Bench, Blood Bank, and Microbiology Bench.
+ Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
+ Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Medical Laboratory Science.
+ Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP).
+ BLS certification.
+ Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 6 months+ experience in a CLIA/COLA certified lab is preferred.
+ Previous experience in a Hospital or Level 1 Trauma Center.
+ One year of experience in Hematology and Chemistry is preferred.
Work Environment
The role is based in the central lab, supporting the LIMS migration project. The position is located in a Level 1 Trauma Center, offering top-tier benefits and opportunities for internal mobility. Shifts include scheduled holidays and weekends, with weekday hours from 3 PM to 11:30 PM and weekend shifts from 11 PM to 7:30 AM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
