Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob Description
As a Mechanical Designer, you will interact with customers and coworkers while maintaining a professional image. You will work closely with project managers during the conceptual phase of projects and assist when needed while the project is being quoted, including visits to customer sites. After a Purchase Order is awarded, you will complete the design and detail the project for release to the shop. You will often work with vendors to specify materials and purchase them when necessary.
Responsibilities
+ Design turn-key Industrial dust collection systems.
+ Utilize P&ID layouts for system design and quoting electrical/mechanical/man-hour needs.
+ Frequently perform site surveys to gather dimensional data for quoting and design purposes.
+ Create detailed fabrication documentation for ductwork, structural steel, concrete foundations, sheet metal, and weldment manufacturing drawings.
+ Use advanced mathematics to solve complex issues, including hot processes and back-draft hoods, as well as elaborate push-pull systems.
+ Conduct field measurements, design and model using tools like AutoCAD and Solidworks, and oversee the entire process from start to finish.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Solidworks.
+ 2-year AS Degree in CADD, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
+ Ability to design and detail with minimal direction and supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with sheet metal is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is business casual, with most managers wearing jeans. You will need to work with multiple divisions such as production, engineering, and project teams, making communication key. The mechanical design team consists of about 6 members, with the engineering department having less than 20, and the entire company around 100-150 employees. This is a focused workplace with no cell phone usage or extra breaks allowed due to the busy nature of the company. However, there are ample opportunities for growth and advancement.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $28.00/hr.
