Job Summary:
Responsible for performing high-quality laboratory testing and ensuring accurate, timely reporting of results. This role supports patient care by maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Quality Assurance
Perform patient testing with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
Ensure proper patient and specimen identification in accordance with departmental standards.
Maintain acceptable error rates in testing and reporting of patient and quality control (QC) results.
Document and investigate quality assurance (QA) failures and trends, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Achieve satisfactory scores in proficiency and competency testing.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Analyze, interpret, and report laboratory data using clinical and theoretical knowledge.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of lab results.
Correlate laboratory findings with clinical information and expected outcomes.
Investigate and resolve testing issues, escalating when necessary.
Communication & Documentation
Interpret and synthesize information from multiple sources to support clinical decisions.
Monitor, investigate, and resolve issues, ensuring proper hand-off to team members.
Follow procedures for tracking test status and documenting critical value notifications in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Communicate effectively within the team and across departments, following established protocols.
Operational Excellence
Adhere to organizational standards for behavior and professionalism.
Accept and act on constructive feedback to improve performance.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage time, materials, and costs efficiently.
Meet departmental productivity and turnaround time standards.
Compliance & Safety
Stay current with training, education, and institutional policies and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
Follow all safety protocols and standards set by WellStar and the laboratory.
Professional Development & Team Engagement
Participate in departmental meetings, committees, task forces, and project teams.
Complete all required continuing education and training assignments.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
