    Job Title: Phlebotomist II - Suwanee

    Job Description

    The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The role includes drawing blood, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, and collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.

    Responsibilities

    + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

    + Properly explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.

    + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

    + Fully understand all physicians' orders.

    + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

    + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

    + Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.

    + Package specimens for transport.

    + Store specimen samples according to required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, and accurately label them.

    + Follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

    + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

    + Attend annual department trainings.

    + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

    Essential Skills

    + Phlebotomy

    + Blood draw

    + Venipuncture

    + Customer service

    + At least 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience

    + Experience with all age groups from pediatric to geriatric

    + High School Diploma or GED

    + Phlebotomy Certification (CPT)

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with 35+ patient draws per day

    + Specimen collection

    + Specimen processing

    + Good personality and a positive attitude

    + Long-term commitment

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a large, busy location where you will work with 1 or 2 other employees. You will handle 35+ patient draws per day, working with both pediatric and geriatric patients. This is a contract-to-hire position.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
