Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Prescott Valley
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist III to join our team. You will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating equipment, and updating patient information, among other duties. You will collect and store specimens following established procedures and explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection methods to patients courteously and clearly. You will also demonstrate techniques using straight or butterfly needles, understand physicians' orders, and ensure accurate matching of laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection to patients clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
+ Understand and comply with physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
+ Maintain specimen integrity during transport following specific protocols.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings.
+ Respond to telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.
Essential Skills
+ Phlebotomy certification valid in the state of employment.
+ Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in troubleshooting and making workflow recommendations.
+ Ability to assist in training and performing various assigned duties.
Work Environment
This position is based in a Patient Service Center (PSC) where you will work with one or more phlebotomists drawing outpatients. Responsibilities include entering physician orders into the computer system, verifying insurance, processing payments, drawing blood, and preparing specimens for courier pickup. The work hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM M-F.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.59/hr.
