$17 to $19/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership
Under the supervision of the Director, the Youth Sports Coordinator is responsible for the planning, administration, supervision and development of all programming as it relates to the operation and management of youth and adult sports and sports camp. The Coordinator will ensure fun and safe programming. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values at the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop innovative programs by providing high quality, high touch service to members and participants.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating all staff and volunteers relative to program responsibilities.
• Assist in planning, promoting, and directing Youth, and Adult Sports programs.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents and volunteers.
• Keep equipment in good repair and tracks all inventory used in these programs.
• Serve as a staff support to the Annual Support Campaign and the United Way Campaign.
• Assist with membership retention by maintaining a high standard of facility cleanliness.
• Attend all required training, meetings and events.
• All other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a degree in sports or education field.
• Experience in facilitating sports programs, the ability to lead a staff team and excellent attention to detail.
• Experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers and part-time employees.
• The candidate must be able to make independent decisions and work with all ages and backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to remain standing and moving for extended periods of time.
• Mobility within the building including movement from floor to floor and outside the building.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
• Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. aggressive behavior).
• Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs.
• Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)
