Position Summary
This is an entry level trainee position
Lincoln County Transit is geared to enabling the public with an inexpensive and convenient way of getting around in Lincoln County. We provide transportation to every major city within the county, including transportation for disabled persons and senior citizens. Transit operates 20 buses and provides approximately 280,000 rides per year. Last year, its buses traveled more than 520,000 miles. This past December they unveiled their new designs for Newport Loop, Lincoln City Loop, and Dial-a-Ride buses aimed at enhancing route recognition as well as identifying intracity buses with the character of the community they serve. This position is an entry level position that will train you on becoming a Transit Driver CDL training program in order to obtain CDL license and passenger endorsement.

Minimum Requirements
+ Highschool Diploma / GED
+ Oregon Driver's License required
+ Must have a current DOT medical examiner's certificate prior to date of hire.
+ Ability to pass a drug screening
Must possess a valid Oregon class B driver's Permit, and complete necessary training and test to obtain a Class B Driver's license with a passenger endorsement following completion of course.
Job Conditions: This is a safety sensitive position and requires pre-employment and random drug testing mandated by the Federal Transit Administration. Varied shifts; must be willing to work early morning and late evening shifts, weekdays, and weekends. Work is typically in a sitting position while driving a vehicle. Subject to adverse weather and traffic conditions, exhaust fumes, equipment noises, diesel, and gasoline fuel. Subject to exposure and close contact with verbally and/or physically abusive individuals.
Work Location: Lincoln County
Travel: Routes start in various locations. Employee responsibility to report to start of route location or where bus is stationed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ Sit in a transit vehicle for extended periods while working 8 to 10-hour shifts.
+ Use arms, wrists, and hands to turn steering wheel of transit vehicle.
+ Use legs to apply pressure for braking of transit vehicle.
+ Adjust transit vehicle seats and mirrors to gain necessary line of vision to maneuver vehicle safely.
+ Maneuver approximately 600 pounds (passenger in a wheeled mobility device).
+ Maintain full and complete use of all limbs to operate vehicle controls.
+ Climb, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel to inspect vehicle or assist passengers.
+ Push pull or maneuver carts, strollers, wheeled mobility devices.
+ Lift approximately 50 pounds or more.

Physical capability to handle high mobility demands and complex personal interactions.
+ Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light to heavy work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate to heavy weight (20-50 pounds).
+ Sensory Requirements: Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Most tasks require oral communications ability. Most tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.
+ Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
