The Department of Human Services (DHS) is looking for a Cosmetologist to provide therapeutic services for patients at Norristown State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Cosmetologist, you will provide beauty services to patients at Norristown State Hospital and support the physical and emotional care of our psychiatric patients. You will have a positive impact on quality of life for patients by providing essential functions that improve health, well-being, and self-esteem. You will assess the head and scalp, recommend treatments, shampoo hair, and cut hair. You will also provide facial treatments and manicures. This role requires k nowledge of modern cosmetology techniques and a genuine desire to advise patients about proper grooming and hygiene methods for hair and nails. In addition, you will operate the beauty shop in accordance with the State Board of Examiners Rules and Regulations, as well as comply with departmental and hospital regulations, policies and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You schedule may change based on operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
+ You must p ossess a license as a Cosmetologist as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.

+ A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
+ This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

Provides cosmetology services which include cut, shampoo, condition, set, dry, style, straighten, and/or color hair; give permanents; sterilize beauty shop tools and equipment; maintain a sanitary environment; and make appointments for individuals.
