Job Details The Senior Financial Operations Analyst at Mercy Hospital plays a key role in supporting the Director of Financial Operations by providing financial analysis, operational reporting, capital and expense budget support, and system maintenance using Strata Performance Management. This role is a critical resource in driving performance improvement, financial accountability, and operational insight by working directly with hospital leadership, clinical and administrative departments, and corporate finance. The Analyst supports volume planning, budgeting, variance analysis, and system alignment initiatives to promote long-term financial stewardship and success. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary point of contact for department managers, assisting with interpretation of bi-weekly labor and monthly non-labor financial variances. Act as a super-user and on-site resource for the Strata Performance Management system, providing system support and training to end users. Coordinate and support bi-weekly Productivity and Position Control meetings, including preparation of agendas and relevant data. Assist Corporate Finance with system configuration and maintenance in Strata, including updates to user access, department and account structures, and unit-of-service mappings. Act as a liaison between hospital departments and Corporate Finance to ensure consistent application of performance management processes and reporting standards. Support the month-end close process by reviewing accruals and collaborating with department managers to provide operational context. Help end users resolve data integrity issues such as incorrectly coded invoices, employees, or purchase orders. Oversee hospital department expense operating budgets, ensuring alignment with volume assumptions and promoting financial stewardship. Maintain the Strata capital budget system to ensure projects are categorized within appropriate fiscal years, capital expenditures are properly coded, and funding sources are correctly applied. Support the Director of Financial Operations and hospital leadership in identifying margin improvement opportunities, including use of decision support and costing analysis. Contribute to the development of financial forecasts and budget models by preparing analyses and evaluating operational trends. Participate in initiatives to continuously improve hospital financial operations and performance outcomes using data from Strata and other decision support tools. Provide additional financial and operational support as assigned by the Director of Financial Operations or hospital leadership. Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience with variance analysis and financial modeling. Moderate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, index-match, etc.). Experience with Strata Decision Technology strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across hospital departments and system-level teams. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. Experience: 5-7 years of finance experience required, with 3-5 years in a healthcare setting preferred. Salary Range USD $90,000.00 - USD $115,000.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
