    THE POSITION

    Are you ready to take your experience in office management to the next level? The Department of General Services, Bureau of Facilities Management is on the lookout for an Assistant Director to oversee the Commonwealth's state-owned buildings and grounds in the Capitol Complex, Annex Complex, and surrounding facilities in Central Operations Regions 1 and 2. This position allows you to collaborate with the Bureau Director to strategically plan, organize, and instruct specialized staff responsible for a diversified statewide facilities management program, which consist of custodial support, landscaping, groundskeeping, and routine maintenance.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As an Assistant Director, you will be tasked with providing operational support to the Director of the Bureau of Facilities Management. This includes representing the Director at meetings and conferences to present current program updates, details, impacts on operations, and concerns from other bureaus, offices, the Deputy Secretary, and executive staff. You will be responsible for developing preventative maintenance schedules by forecasting problems and planning future needs for the buildings, systems, and equipment; conducting cost and benefit analysis; as well as monitoring budgetary costs and constraints. Work involves interpreting contractual agreements and making recommendations for contract amendments or modifications to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the contracted services. Additional responsibilities include:

     

    + Overseeing periodic inspections of assigned buildings and facilities

    + Coordinating action plans and resources to resolve emergencies and operational problems

    + Supervising the grounds division

    + Directing the managers of the central and regional operations

    + Serving as a construction project administrator, coordinating and managing construction or renovation projects

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

    + This position is considered essential. You will be required to report in-office during emergencies and office closings.

    + Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + One year as an Administrative Officer 4 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

    + Eight years of experience in progressively responsible and varied management or staff work, including personnel management, fiscal management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or

    + Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Additional Requirements:

    + You must possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

    + You must be able to perform essential job functions.
