Bowdoin is seeking a Catering Supervisor to support our Catering Department by ensuring the smooth execution of campus catering operations. Working under the direction of the Culinary and Operations Managers—and in collaboration with the Catering and Assistant Catering Managers—this position provides vital organizational and logistical support. As the on-site team leader, the Catering Supervisor is responsible for:
+ Event Planning & Execution: Working with Catering Manager and Assistant Catering Manager, drafts standardized and unique pull sheets for each event. Conduct/oversee preplanning, delivery, set up, event oversite, breakdown of all catered events. This includes facilitating the ordering of linen, beverages, and other items specified for catering functions
+ Client Service & Communication: Serve as the primary Dining Services contact during events, providing exceptional on-site support and managing communication with clients and staff to handle changes and ensure smooth execution.
+ Operational Support: Assist with dining hall operations, including meal service coverage, sanitation, restocking, and supervision of dish room and event staff.
+ Food Safety & Compliance:Uphold sanitation and food safety standards during events. Ensure accurate labeling of menu items to meet dietary and allergen requirements.
+ Inventory & Facility Maintenance: Organize and maintain catering supplies and equipment. Conduct regular safety and sanitation inspections, and recommend replacements as needed.
+ Administrative & Event Reporting: Maintain accurate event documentation via Caterease, and provide post-event feedback to support continuous improvement.
Compensation:
+ The pay rate for this position is $24 per hour. This role is eligible for overtime and shift/weekend differential.
+ New employees in Dining will receive a $500 sign-on bonus (½ paid at first check and ½ paid after 90 days of eligibility requirements are met).

Education/Skills Requirements
+ High School Diploma or GED ; Associate’s or vocational/technical degreepreferred
+ Current ServSafe certification, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment
+ A valid Driver’s License and the ability to meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
+ Basic knowledge of common food allergens and gluten-containing ingredients
+ Proven reliability with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
+ Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines
+ Capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
+ Strong customer service skills, with a focus on clear and effective verbal communication
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
+ At least 1 year of related food service experience required
+ Supervisory experience preferred; however, candidates demonstrating strong leadership potential will also be considered

Standard Work Days and Hours
+ The typical work schedule is Thursday through Monday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please note that some flexibility is required to accommodate the Catering calendar
+ This is a full-time, onsite position requiring 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (1.0 FTE ) with occasional overtime, weekends and/or holidays
+ This position also requires working major college events, including commencement, reunions, homecoming, and family weekend
+ Classified as essential personnel, this position is expected to report to work during college-declared weather emergencies or other critical situations
