BAE Systems Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Governance Director to support the company s commitment to ensuring world class standards across its operations. This individual will be responsible for the effective implementation of compliance assurance strategy and management systems. The safety, health and Environmental (SHE) Governance Director will successfully develop and implement a risk based SHE assurance program, SHE IT platform, employ AI, predictive analytics and other mechanisms for proactive risk identification and mitigation.
This position reports to the VP, Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE). The primary responsibilities include partnering with business sectors to drive continuous improvement of SHE practices across the enterprise. Our ideal candidate will exude a highly credible balance of combined Safety, Health and Environmental technical leadership, and interpersonal skills to exert influence and network at all levels within the organization.
Additional responsibilities:
+ Assess and deploy various assurance options to address specific SHE risks across business Sectors including but not limited to conventional SHE compliance assessments, Bowtie, Scenario Based, and FMEA assessments;
+ Provide tools and other resources necessary to close corrective actions; develop and enhance SHE key metrics and corresponding definitions to be employed across the company;
+ Drive overarching SHE performance improvement across all sectors;
+ With extensive collaboration across the SHE sector staff, develop and successfully deploy a risk based management system aligned with related ISO standards;
+ Continuously assess data across the sectors to identify and focus on key risk areas. Interacting with external ISO registrars and occasionally SHE PLC team for report outs;
+ Partnering across all sectors, successfully deploy in a phased approach an effective, proven SHE IT Platform meeting all security provisions required; provide and coordinate training, tools, guidance and all other related actions to ensure ease of implementation for SHE and operations staff. Extensive site focus for implementation needs.
+ Using collected SHE data, employ the use of AI and other predicative analytics mechanisms as well as results obtained through various assurance assessments to inform creation, monitoring and communication of leading SHE indicators to proactively predict SHE risks and associated mitigation strategies across the enterprise;
+ Work collaboratively with other functional leaders and operations to deploy large scale initiatives including but not limited to SHE IT Platforms, compliance assurance self-assessment protocols, creation and communication of SHE dashboards.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor s Degree with 12 years of experience;
+ Robust functional knowledge of associated SHE compliance assurance expertise including, but not limited to OSHA, EPA and State delegated programs;
+ Experience thriving in a matrix environment and delivering exceptional results;
+ Strong ability to lead and mentor SHE professionals to achieve streamlined deployment of programs with continuous feedback mechanisms;
+ Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability;
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, including comfort with interacting at all levels of an organization;
+ Agile leadership style with the ability to adjust one s approach to fit the situation.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Master s degree preferred
+ Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Environmental Auditor, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional or equivalent designations.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $154815 - $263185
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
