    The Department of Neurology is seeking a **_Research Program Assistant_** to provide support, under the direction of Pediatric Neurology for multiple research projects for pediatric neuromuscular diseases such as Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Assists in project planning, and ensures that pre-established work scope, IRB-approved study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. Recruits and coordinates research subjects, as appropriate. Develops and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures.

     

    Under the supervision of the Research Program Supervisor and direction of the investigators and study team members, the Research Program Assistant will help out with various activities vital to the large research study of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).     Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    + Assists research subjects and/or volunteers, as appropriate to specific study objectives and work scope.

    + Implements and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; including the management of data, paper files, and electronic databases.

    + Aids in the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities in **c** ompliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other relevant patient privacy statutes.

    + Shipping of specimens.

    + Recruits, instructs, and coordinates research subjects and/or volunteers, as appropriate to specific study objectives and work scope.

    + Follows day-to-day activities in the carrying out of research protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.

    + Maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators and/or regulatory bodies.

    + Data entry in study database, resolving issues with missing data Obtain clarification or corrections, collect missing data.

    + Create a log of missing items from study material using the checklist.

    + Communicate with research coordinators for the data management.

    + Organizing and maintaining research files.

    + Understanding Research patient Insurance coverage and providers. Assisting staff with patient visit scheduling and escorting patients during study visits.

    + Packing and Unpacking materials and equipment for transportation to/from screening events which will include some lifting of equipment.

    + Support project lead in designing study forms and support other research activities.

    + Assist in preparing study visit paperwork.

    + Assist in preparing study recruitment and education materials.

    + Operating basic office machines.

    + Provide office support as needed; includes filing, record keeping and other duties as assigned based on the needs of the research program.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

    + Some related experience.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Some college courses.

    Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY (Commensurate w/exp.)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting.
