The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

This position is located at the Department of Motor Vehicles in our Administrative Service Division, Revenue Section in Carson City. This position is responsible for the receiving, reviewing and processing of returned unpaid items. Communicate with debtors to resolve issues and follow up on the status of accounts. Reconcile data and resolve discrepancies. Receive and process appropriate documents to initiate debt. Maintain multiple spreadsheets relating to debt recovery. Document and track payments including cash handling and deposits. Research debts associated with title transactions. The applicant must be reliable, accurate and able to multitask. The primary work location will be at the Carson DMV Office. Schedule subject to change due to the needs of the business. Incumbent may be required to work different or other shifts, depending on the needs of the division. Incumbent may be required to work Saturdays as well. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
