Help Us Lead with Heart — and Keep Tails Wagging Charleston Dog Walker is searching for a standout Pet Care Team Manager to help lead our growing team and deliver exceptional care to Charleston’s pets and their people. This is a part-time (approx. 20 hrs/week) remote position for someone based in Charleston, SC who is highly organized, exceptionally responsive, and deeply committed to customer service.

You’ll be the behind-the-scenes hero of our weekday operations — ensuring our team has what they need, clients feel heard and supported, and every pet care visit runs smoothly. It’s a role that blends thoughtful leadership, confident communication, and a genuine love for animals. What You’ll Be Doing As Pet Care Team Manager, you'll be the first line of support for our pet sitters when they need help during a visit. Whether it’s a dog who won’t go outside, a cat showing signs of stress, or questions about feeding, medication, or behavior — you'll be the one guiding them with calm, confidence, and real pet care expertise.

You’ll ensure the team feels supported and empowered to do their best work. You'll also be a key connection for clients and prospects, making sure they feel confident in our services and helping them get the information they need.

Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:

+ Support sitters during visits by providing knowledgeable, real-time advice on pet behavior, care routines, and safety concerns

+ Be on-call and available during our service hours (Monday–Friday, 7am–9pm EST) to respond promptly to staff needs, issues, or emergencies

+ Assign and manage the daily pet care visit schedule using our online system (Precise Petcare)

+ Monitor visit journals, GPS check-ins, and schedule compliance to ensure top-quality care and consistency

+ Answer client phone calls, emails, and texts promptly with professionalism and warmth

+ Confidently handle prospective client inquiries, explain our services, guide them through next steps, and address any questions or concerns to help convert them into clients

+ Lead staff with 1:1 coaching, performance reviews, and staff issue documentation

+ Organize and co-lead virtual staff meetings — schedule them, create the agenda, and actively participate as a leadership voice

+ Track onboarding progress for new hires and conduct check-ins to support a successful start

+ Post helpful updates and training tips to staff in Slack and submit weekly team summaries

+ Track and allocate tips and bonuses

+ Help maintain and update internal SOPs and recommend improvements to streamline our operations

    Who You Are

+ A warm, confident communicator who feels just as comfortable picking up the phone as writing a thoughtful email

+ Experienced in pet care — you have a solid understanding of pet behavior, handling, basic health concerns, and how to guide others through common issues

+ Highly responsive and proactive — you don’t let messages sit or problems linger

+ Calm and steady under pressure — you know how to assess a situation, prioritize, and stay composed when the unexpected happens

+ Detail-oriented and organized — able to juggle multiple moving pieces without letting anything fall through the cracks

+ Tech-savvy and able to navigate scheduling software, online tools, and spreadsheets

+ Great at organizing and leading others — you enjoy coaching people and helping them succeed

+ Passionate about building a role that lasts — you’re looking for a long-term fit

    Requirements

+ Based in the Charleston, SC area

    + Available ~20 hrs/week, Monday–Friday, with on-call availability between 7am–9pm EST

+ Must have reliable internet, a smartphone, and a computer

+ Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background check

+ Minimum 12-month commitment required (we’d love for you to stay for years)

+ Minimum of 1 year experience in professional pet care, veterinary, shelter, or training settings is strongly preferred

    Compensation & Benefits

+ $22/hour starting pay, with potential increases based on performance

+ Paid via direct deposit on the 1st and 16th of each month

+ Flexible, remote work with meaningful ownership

+ The chance to lead a thoughtful, mission-driven team — and make a real impact
