    Data Engineer

    Position Summary

    Continuous Improvement is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and analytical Data Engineer to join our team. The Data Engineer will provide critical support to stakeholders and to other members of the data reporting team. This role will be responsible for data management and governance, creating and supporting automated data pipelines. Success in this position requires a strong blend of technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills to effectively meet project objectives and the stakeholders’ data reporting requirements.

    Responsibilities

    Collaboration:

    + Work closely with our data analysts, subject matter experts, and business partners to understand pain points within our current data landscape.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

    Process Improvement:

    + Identify, design and develop data solutions that enable the automation of business processes, metadata collection, and data pipelines.

    + Develop and maintain documentation for data processes, systems, and workflows.

    + Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve data engineering practices

    Data Management & Governance Program Development:

    + Assist the business in the development and growth of our data management and governance program.

    + Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, process, and store large volumes of data from various sources.

    + Optimize and maintain existing data infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.

    + Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data integrity.

     

    Job Experience & Education

     

    + Degree in Data Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field; four (4) years of relevant technical experience is an acceptable substitute.

    + Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.

    + Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or Java.

    + Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases and data warehousing solutions.

    + Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    + Strong communication and collaboration skills.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

     

    + Excellent interpersonal, sociable skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner.

    + Ability to think outside of the box and identify the root cause of data related issues, and keep in mind the big picture.

    + Ability to dive deep into data to find problems or trends.

    + Data modeling skills and understanding of data warehouse design in a muti-segmented corporation.

    + Knowledge of design and implementing data integration & migration, data management, data analytic & reporting solutions.

    + Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks.

    + Experience with version control systems such as Git.

    + Working knowledge of PowerBI is preferred.

    + Working knowledge of Databricks is preferred.

    + Software or PowerApp development experience preferred.

     

    Other considerations

     

    + This role is currently hybrid with four (4) days in the office and one (1) day remote.

    + Limited travel (less than 20%) may be required.
