    Compliance Team Leader

    Job Summary

    Responsible for implementing, monitoring, and reporting on all compliance programs that help to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient operation of a fossil fuel plant. The specific areas of compliance include, but are not limited to; NERC, CIP, Environmental (EPA, MDEQ, MDOH), Regulatory, Water Chemistry (EPRI), Accounting/SOx, Contractor, and Inventory. Provide leadership and direction for the compliance specialists, materials analyst, and chemical technicians. Ensure compliance awareness and provide applicable training to all plant employees. Maintain in-depth knowledge of current NERC, CIP, and Environmental laws and regulations as they apply to the plant and uses that knowledge to ensure compliance with permits and regulations. Perform project management and system ownership duties for assigned systems: General Service Water and Water Treatment Plant Systems

    Job Requirements

    - Bachelor’s Degree or 10+ Combined Years Equivalent Experience Required (Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Environmental Science Degree preferred).

     

    - Five years experience and In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements regarding air, water, and waste permitting. (preferred)

     

    - Five years experience in implementation and management of water chemistry programs. (preferred)

     

    - Five years water chemistry experience in a coal, oil or natural gas electric generating plant with knowledge of steam/water cycle design, cooling water systems, makeup water systems, and waste treatment systems. (preferred)

     

    - Experience in implementation and management of NERC/CIP Compliance Programs

     

    - Experience with work order management, maintenance planning, materials ordering and warehouse inventory management; Maximo experience is a plus.

     

    - Prefer experience with power plant operation and maintenance, environmental monitoring and reporting, safety committee participation, lockout/tagout process management, and hot work/open hole/confined space entry procedures.

     

    - Analytical skills necessary to understand, communicate, and implement current and new compliance requirements.

     

    - Strong leadership and problem-solving skills along with a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.

     

    - Effective written and oral communication skills required.

     

    - Knowledge of the Capital and O&M budgeting process.

     

    - Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Job Responsibilities

    - Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance with all local and federal guidelines.

     

    - Provide leadership, coordination and planning for the compliance and chemistry team to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

     

    - Ensure the plant's cycle chemistry program meets or exceeds chemistry guidelines, provide the plant with a continuous supply of high-quality makeup water and optimize plant cooling water systems in support of plant business goals.

     

    - Practice effective performance management and provide employees with opportunities and training to develop in current position.

     

    - Interface with federal, state and local agencies.

     

    - Manage budget for the laboratory.

     

    - Perform project management and system ownership duties for assigned systems: General Service Water and Water Treatment Plant Systems.

     

    The successful candidate must be available for call outs, holidays and weekends. Candidate must be able to adapt to changing work duties, be able to work with limited supervision, and must be able to perform successfully in an individual and team environment.
