JOBTITLE:Inclusion & Wellness Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION:
TheInclusion & Wellness Specialistwill work directly in schools and partner with local organizations to educate students, staff, and community members on inclusion, adaptive sports, and wellness strategies. This role ensures that students with disabilities have equal access to extracurricular programs while receiving emotional, social, and physical support. The specialist will develop inclusive recreational programs, facilitate peer mentorship, provide wellness education, and train educators and community partners to create an environment that fosters resilience, self-advocacy, and social-emotional well-being.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
+ School-Based Inclusion Training: Educate students, teachers, and coaches on disability awareness, inclusion strategies, and peer support programs to promote a more inclusive school culture.
+ Partnership Development: Collaborate with schools, local agencies, disability advocacy groups, and community organizations to expand adaptive sports, wellness initiatives, and inclusion-focused programming.
+ Adaptive Sports & Wellness Programming: Design and implement inclusive extracurricular activities that accommodate students with diverse abilities. Work closely with PE teachers and coaches to integrate adaptive sports into school activities.
+ Social-Emotional & Behavioral Support: Provide one-on-one and group interventions in school settings to help students develop self-advocacy, emotional regulation, and resilience skills.
+ Training & Education: Conduct workshops for educators, school staff, and students on inclusive practices, mental health strategies, and social-emotional learning.
+ Crisis Response & Referrals: Identify students who may require additional mental health or social-emotional support and connect them to appropriate counseling or intervention services.
+ Family & Community Engagement: Organize parent workshops, advisory meetings, and community outreach events to encourage family involvement in student wellness and inclusion efforts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Physical Education, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, or a related field.
+ Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working in adaptive sports, school-based wellness programs, mental health support, or special education.
+ Skills: Strong knowledge of inclusive education, trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning, and behavioral intervention techniques.
EXPERIENCE:
+ Proven ability to develop and implement adaptive sports programs and wellness activities.
+ Experience in providing direct support to students with disabilities through recreational, educational, or therapeutic settings.
+ Strong knowledge of youth mental health practices, IEP accommodations, and inclusive education strategies.
+ Background in leading workshops, mentoring programs, or professional development for educators, coaches, and community partners.
+ Ability to collaborate with schools, families, and community agencies to enhance student engagement and program accessibility.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
+ Strong documentation and organizational skills to track student progress and program impact.
+ Ability to coordinate with schools, disability advocacy organizations, and local agencies.
+ Flexibility to travel between program sites and attend school and community meetings.
+ Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends for outreach and events.
+ Proficiency in crisis intervention, problem-solving, and behavioral management strategies.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience working with youth, families, and diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities.
• Strong background in program development, implementation, and community outreach.
• Ability to coordinate with schools, local agencies, and disability advocacy organizations to promote inclusivity.
• Proficiency in event planning, program evaluation, and grant compliance.
• Willingness to travel between program sites and attend community meetings.
