Position Purpose
Business Banking Officers are responsible for providing comprehensive financial solutions to small businesses within our footprint, focusing on acquiring new business relationships for their assigned branches. They also deepen and retain existing relationships, actively pursue new business opportunities, and grow the profitability of our small business program. Results consist of acquiring, expanding, and retaining business relationships with a focus on deposit, treasury, and business lending growth.
This is primarily an outside sales role, requiring active engagement with the local business community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Daily Tasks
+ Identify and source new business members through outbound calling, business visits, inbound calls, and email.
+ Maintain regular contact with business members within the portfolio.
+ Respond to member requests.
+ Conduct thorough interviews to determine member needs.
+ Recommend a package of products/services that fulfill those needs.
+ Fulfill member requests for additional products and services.
+ Refer members to business partners as needed.
+ Educate business members and employees on small business lending solutions, business credit cards, deposit accounts, treasury and cash management solutions, digital banking solutions, and consumer product referrals.
+ Coordinate activities with branches and related departments, obtaining or conveying information as needed.
+ Keep management informed of area activities and significant problems.
+ Answer inbound phone calls from business members and employees.
+ Assist members with servicing issues such as payment discrepancies, fees, and late payments.
+ Cooperate with other employees to ensure member requests are handled efficiently.
Weekly Tasks
+ Collaborate with assigned branches and branch employees to build referral sources.
+ Work with assigned business chambers to identify business prospects and support local businesses.
+ Develop centers of influence and networks to create additional referral sources.
+ Conduct regular follow-up calls with business members.
+ Provide support and training to branches on business services.
+ Assist and support Business Services personnel as needed.
+ Prepare account applications and other documentation for member signatures, if applicable.
+ Look for ways to perform duties more efficiently.
Monthly Tasks
+ Identify and attend marketing events that complement or serve the industry or product niches of the portfolio.
+ Review and evaluate set goals for production and cross-selling, making adjustments as needed.
+ Review and update the knowledge base on all product offerings to ensure the latest information is provided to members and employees.
+ Attend and participate in meetings as required.
+ Provide detailed reports to management on area activities and significant problems.
+ Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities:
+ Accurate and attentive to detail
+ Well organized
+ Strong typing abilities
+ Ability to assist others
+ Proficient with basic business equipment (computer, adding machine, copy machine)
+ Strong sales ability and understanding of sales process
Experience:
+ 2 to 5 years' experience in a financial institution, preferably working with small businesses
Knowledge:
+ Basic knowledge of business account services and procedures
+ Familiarity with business loan programs and service requirements
+ Familiarity with general loan documentation
Education/Certification:
+ High school graduate or equivalent
+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred
