    Director, Strategic & Administrative Operations, Office of CEO/EVPMA for Michigan Medicine

    Job Summary

    Michigan Medicine is seeking a dynamic candidate for the Director of Strategic & Administrative Operations position. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor and operational support for the Office of the EVPMA/CEO. The Director of Strategic & Administrative Operations works at the intersection of healthcare leadership, strategy, and operations, to drive meaningful change and impact across the health system. This position will manage the operations of the EVPMA/CEO's office, as well as coordinate strategic initiatives, projects, and priorities across the organization.

    Responsibilities*

    + Serve as the Director of Strategic & Administrative Operations to the EVPMA/CEO Office, providing counsel, insights, and support on key clinical and operational initiatives to the EVPMA/CEO.

    + Lead the administrative, financial, and operational activities to optimize the EVPMA/CEO's office, ensuring effective use of time and resources.

    + Collaborate with the EVPMA/CEO and other members of the executive team to develop and execute strategic plans, priorities, and initiatives that align with the organization?s mission and goals.

    + Lead and manage special projects and initiatives on behalf of the EVPMA/CEO, overseeing cross-functional teams and driving successful outcomes.

    + Coordinate and facilitate communication and collaboration between Michigan Medicine leadership, departments, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and integration of efforts.

    + Monitor and assess key performance metrics and outcomes related to Michigan Medicine initiatives, providing regular updates and insights to the EVPMA/CEO and executive team.

    + Anticipate and proactively address challenges and opportunities, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous improvement efforts.

    + Represent the EVPMA/CEO and the Michigan Medicine leadership team in meetings, presentations, and interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Facilitate the development and review of issues among Michigan Medicine executive leadership, including the EVPMA/CEO, the UM Health Regional Network President, the Medical School Dean, UM Health AMC leadership, campus leadership, and governing bodies.

    Required Qualifications*

    + **Leadership Experience:** Minimum 10+ years in healthcare leadership, strategy, operations, or related roles, with a track record of success in driving change and achieving results.

    + **Governance & Administrative Expertise:** Proven experience in government relations, corporate administration, and strategic oversight of enterprise-wide functions.

    + **Educational Background:** Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.

    + **Industry Knowledge:** Deep understanding of healthcare systems, healthcare delivery, clinical operations, and healthcare policy and regulations.

    + **Strategic & Operational Acumen:** Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop actionable insights and recommendations.

    + **Executive Presence & Influence:** Exceptional communication, interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and drive alignment and collaboration. High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Experience working directly with C-suite executives or board leadership.

    + Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

    + Skilled at synthesizing complex data into actionable insights and concise recommendations.

     

    Modes of Work

     

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.     Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
