    Job Summary

    The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan invite applications for a Lecturer I position to lead discussion sections at 35%-50% effort for the Fall 2025 Term. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025 and end December 31, 2025.

    Course Description

    The Department of Communication and Media is seeking to hire LEO Lecturers for the Fall 2025 term. Fraction appointments are from .35 - .5. Please see the course guide for discussion times and locations. Placements will not be finalized until July, and offer-letters will be sent out around that time.

    Responsibilities*

    + Attend all lectures and exams for your preferred course.

    + Lead assigned discussion sections.

    + Hold at least 2 office hours each week.

    + Grade assignments, per lead faculty instruction.

    + Meet weekly with the lead instructor and respond promptly to emails.

    Required Qualifications*

    Applicants must have earned a Masters in Communication Studies, or a related field, prior to the beginning of the appointment. Candidates should have a proven teaching record of excellence.

    Desired Qualifications*

    A Ph.D. in Communication Studies.

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
