Job Summary
The Manger Sourcing is responsible for organizing and managing a professional strategic sourcing and procurement staff to ensure cost-effective and quality acquisition of materials, equipment, and services to support business units while meeting department goals and objectives.
Broad areas of responsibility include:
+ Manages and coordinates the sourcing and purchasing functions to ensure compliance with applicable company purchasing policies, business partner requirements, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
+ Ensures strategic materials, services and equipment are purchased in a cost-effective manner, while meeting quality requirements within need dates and mitigating company risks.
+ Maintains effective working relationships and manages issues with internal business unit partners and external suppliers. These relationships can exist at all levels of management within the business unit.
+ Ensure a productive staff through effective performance management and individual development plans for sourcing and procurement professionals. Challenges direct reports to gain discretionary effort.
+ Demonstrates leadership skills in motivating employees.
+ Overseeing all facets of day-to-day work, the team performs and serves as primary escalation point for operations and support
+ Implement and maintain processes, policies, technologies, and techniques necessary to ensure ongoing successful operations
+ Monitor and measure quality of work, effectiveness and efficiency of the processes and develop meaningful measures and performance indicators
+ Take appropriate actions necessary to ensure a quality product, process compliance, continual performance improvement, and maximized productivity
+ Develops and manages their operational budget with input from stakeholders.
Responsibilities
+ Manages the cost-effective and quality purchasing of materials, equipment, services, and spare parts within area of expertise to support business unit operations. This is primarily those strategic purchasing and contract needs but may execute tactical needs from time to time. A major focus is on Duke Energy "risk" reduction and mitigation for strategic needs.
+ Provides development and job rotational opportunities for direct reports. Ensures a productive staff through effective performance management.
+ Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with business unit partners and external suppliers, typically at the middle management level
+ Develop and manages an operational budget.

Required/Basic Qualifications (Manager Sourcing I)
+ Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
+ Minimum 2 years related work experience
Required/Basic Qualifications (Manager Sourcing II)
+ Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering
+ Minimum 5 years related work experience
Desired Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or other related discipline and six (6)+ years related work experience
+ Master’s degree in supply chain management or business administration and five (5)+ years related work experience
+ Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
+ Previous Supply Chain supervisory/management experience
+ Working knowledge of sourcing/procurement, inventory, and business unit operations
+ Good understanding of procurement program and inventory issues
+ Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, procedures, and other regulatory requirements and guidelines.
+ Demonstrated Project Management Skills
+ Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate
+ Two years of supervisory/management experience.
+ Strong negotiating skills, problem solving/analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, leadership skills
+ Working knowledge of natural gas operations, transmission, and distribution
+ Self-directed with willingness and ability to see gaps and develop and implement solutions to fill those gaps
+ Ability to motivate team members at multiple levels and lead others through change
+ Maximo experience
Working Conditions
+ Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.
+ The assigned work location is Duke Energy Plaza, Charlotte NC with onsite 3 days per week and when required and directed by their manager
+ The position will include after-hours and weekend support. Normal office environment with some travel to sites, supplier facilities and industry meetings.
