    Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

    Job Summary

    The E+ES Purchased Finished Motors team selects, develops, validates, and implements a wide array of motor solutions for Caterpillar’s rapidly growing Electric Drivetrain offerings. The team leverages the capability and experience of our strategic supplier partners alongside our internal Caterpillar knowledge to create an optimized product line of motor solutions with velocity and quality. As an Engineering Project Team Leader in the Purchased Finished motors team, you will lead a team of engineers to deliver this product line of leveraged PF motor solutions, deliver new motor solutions, optimize our supply base, and establish the norms and standards of a successful team.

    What You Will Do

    + Analyze, scope and evaluate potential motor projects, including business opportunity, strategic alignment, product cost, program timeline, etc.

    + Develop, plan, and execute both broad PF motor strategy and application-specific projects in alignment with process partners across the organization, including purchasing, analysis, validation, and product groups.

    + Oversee project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; address and resolve problems

    + Direct project prioritization and provide guidance on resource needs, both budget and staffing

    + Motivate and develop/mentor less experienced team members

     

    What You Will Have

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related curriculum

    **Product Design and Development:** Experience and knowledge of electric motors and/or drive; ability to design and develop products, technologies, and services from concept through to production.

    + Successful delivery of complex NPI programs preferred

    + Develops organizational standards and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

    + Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.

    + Oversees the management and prioritization of multiple projects and workstreams.

    + Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed products.

    + Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex product design and development problems.

    + Adapts quickly to changing circumstances and goals, providing flexible solution sets.

    + Understands and manages appropriate Intellectual Property protection through the product development lifecycle.

    + Monitors new and emerging motor technologies and advises on strategic applicability.

    **Project Management:** Knowledge of and experience with effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

    + Champions E+ES’s project management methodology, tools, and techniques.

    + Manages multiple projects involving multiple stakeholders.

    + Balances needs and priorities of both strategic and application-driven motor projects.

    + Coaches others in open communication among project stakeholders.

    + Monitors major projects for critical path and actual versus planned execution.

    + Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects.

    **Team Management:** Extensive experience and knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form, manage, and improve effective teams.

    + Defines team initiatives and priorities, and works with team members to align resources to these activities.

    + Brings projects to closure and uses lessons learned to continuous improve the team.

    + Leads both by example and through active coaching and mentoring.

    + Employs appropriate techniques for maintaining team enthusiasm, energy, and focus.

    + Ensures that team members are on board, unified, and moving in the same direction.

    + Communicates clearly both within the team and with process partners/stakeholders

    + Learns and utilizes special talents and work styles of team members.

    **Influencing Through Expertise:** Extensive experience and knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.

    + Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand.

    + Exhibits depth and breadth of knowledge, skill, and experience in the motors and electric drive field.

    + Provides relevant, timely, and objective subject matter/process expertise and key insight regarding product strategy and application to specific electric drive projects.

    + Provides others with information, opportunities, or resources to develop their own expertise and skills in product development.

    + Supports their recommendations through a facts-and-data based approach with sound reasoning and logic.

    + Coaches others to enhance their proficiency regarding the tenets, practices, and examples of the 'trusted advisor' credential.

    **Troubleshooting Technical Problems:** Extensive experience and knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems utilizing both internal and external resources and expertise.

    + Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

    + Leverages capability and expertise both within the team, elsewhere in the company, and outside of the company for effective and efficient problem resolution.

    + Understands and maintains appropriate Intellectual Property protection around issue troubleshooting and potential novel solutions.

    + Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

    + Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.

    + Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

    + Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

    Additional Information

    + This position is located in Mossville, IL

    + Domestic travel up to 10% & minimal international travel is required

    + Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position

    Summary Pay Range:

    $126,000.00 - $189,000.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
