Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Senior Living community, is seeking a Dining Services Staff Development & Training Manager to lead effective strategies for training, development, and retention of staff within the Dining Services Department. This dynamic role focuses on mentoring and coaching both adult and minor team members, preparing them for long-term success in the workplace.

As a key partner to both the Dining Services and Human Resources teams, you will play a central role in improving staff performance, enhancing the guest experience, and building a strong, sustainable talent pipeline.

How you will make an impact

+ Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation for student employees, typically scheduled after school hours.

+ Lead ongoing training and professional development programs for all dining team members across dining room, café, kitchen, and utility functions.

+ ​ Work closely with managers and supervisors to review performance, identify development opportunities, and create growth plans.

+ Support recruitment efforts, including phone screening, interviewing, and onboarding of front- and back-of-house staff.

+ Act as a mentor and visible leader during meal service hours, modeling exceptional service and coaching student staff in real-time.

+ Support outreach to local high schools, employment agencies, and community organizations to attract young talent.

+ Collaborate with the recruiter and attend hiring events, job fairs, and other community outreach activities.

+ Monitor staff behavior and performance, including appearance, attendance, and attitude; provide timely feedback and coaching.

+ Lead team-building activities and morale initiatives to foster a positive and productive work culture.

+ Track and analyze turnover and retention metrics; develop strategies to enhance employee engagement and reduce attrition.

+ Train and support Certified Server Trainers and dining leadership staff in effective training techniques.

+ Ensure all dining and compliance training is completed in Workday (HRMS).

What you will need

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Proven leadership and mentoring abilities, especially with young or entry-level employees.

+ Ability to design and deliver impactful training programs and workshops.

+ Well-organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.

+ Comfortable working in both front- and back-of-house dining operations.

+ Proven experience managing and motivating in a customer service environment.

+ Related experience in food service, an educational food service management program, or experience in recruitment, staff development and training with an ability to learn food service.
