Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
The Vice President of Technology Management & Strategy is a strategic leader responsible for the delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives aligned with the company’s strategic goals. This role oversees the Program Management Office (PMO), drives enterprise-wide program governance, manages vendor relationships, and leads enterprise communications and change initiatives. The VP, Technology Management & Strategy ensures seamless coordination across multiple business and technology teams to deliver measurable business outcomes and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Program Leadership
+ Lead the end-to-end execution of strategic programs across business units, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
+ Translate executive strategies into structured, measurable roadmaps with clear timelines, KPIs, and success criteria.
+ Anticipate and mitigate cross-functional risks, manage dependencies, and ensure transparent reporting to executive leadership.
PMO Leadership & Governance
+ Lead a high-performing PMO with established standards, methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), tools, and reporting practices.
+ Maintain enterprise program governance processes, including portfolio prioritization, funding approvals, and status assessments.
+ Drive continuous improvement across project and program delivery capabilities, tools, and processes.
Vendor Governance
+ Establish and lead vendor management practices for all third-party partners supporting programs and transformation initiatives.
+ Define performance metrics and conduct regular reviews to ensure vendors deliver on scope, budget, quality, and SLAs.
+ Negotiate contracts, manage escalations, and drive accountability across external partners and service providers.
Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
+ Develop and lead the execution of integrated communication plans for major programs and change initiatives.
+ Ensure timely, transparent, and audience-appropriate communication with all internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives.
+ Facilitate executive steering committees, program reviews, and stakeholder alignment forums.
Change Management
+ Lead enterprise change initiatives by building robust change management strategies across people, process, and systems.
+ Partner with HR, Corporate Communications, and functional leaders to anticipate adoption challenges and support successful change enablement.
+ Measure change readiness, adoption, and effectiveness to continuously refine strategy and improve outcomes.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
+ Build and lead a team of program managers and provide guidance & oversight to be leveraged by all SpinCo project managers, business analysts, and support personnel.
+ Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, agility, and continuous learning.
+ Coach and develop future program leaders through mentoring, training, and growth opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
+ 10+ years of experience in program or portfolio management, including 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity.
+ Proven track record leading enterprise-wide, multi-year transformation initiatives.
+ Demonstrated experience in vendor governance, partner accountability, and contract management.
+ Proven track record leading organizational change in large, matrixed environments.
+ Advanced knowledge of project and program management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
+ Proficiency in project and portfolio management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira).
Desired Characteristics:
+ Strong strategic thinking and operational execution ability.
+ Expertise in communications planning, stakeholder engagement, and change enablement.
+ Superior vendor negotiation, relationship management, and performance oversight skills.
+ High emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills.
+ Ability to oversee on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery of strategic programs
+ Ability to lead vendor performance against SLA and budget adherence
+ Ability to oversee program adoption and change success metrics
+ Ability to maintain stakeholder and executive satisfaction
+ Ability to facilitate growth in PMO maturity and operational excellence
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Technology, Engineering, or related field required.
+ MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
+ Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, Prosci, Agile/Scrum, or SAFe are highly desirable.
Additional Requirements:
+ Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $215,000 - $280,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
